In this article, we will guide you through the steps required to connect your domain name to your Bluesky account, allowing you to use your domain as your handle.
Step 1: Log into Your Bluesky Account
- First, log in to your Bluesky account at Bluesky.
- Once logged in, go to your Profile by selecting your profile picture in the left-hand menu.
Step 2: Access Settings and Change Handle
- In your profile, click on Settings.
- Scroll down to the Advanced section.
- Click on Change Handle and then select I have My Own Domain.
This will bring you to a new screen that provides you with a TXT Record to be added to your domain's DNS settings.
Step 3: Add the TXT Record to Your Domain's DNS
To integrate your domain with Bluesky, you'll need to add the provided TXT record to your domain's DNS settings.
Log in to Your Domain’s Control Panel
- Log in to your Lyrical Control Panel (for domain management). If you're unsure how to do this, you can refer to this article: How to Log In to Your Lyrical Control Panel.
- Once logged in, locate and click on the Domain Names section.
Add the TXT Record
- Click on Manage DNS for your domain.
- Scroll down to the DNS Records section. At the bottom, you will see three empty fields where you will input your DNS record.
- Field 1: In the leftmost field, enter _atproto.
- Field 2: In the middle field, select the TXT Record type.
- Field 3: In the rightmost field, paste the Value provided by Bluesky. The value will start with did= and will be specific to your account.
- After entering the information, click Update DNS to save your changes.
Step 4: Wait for DNS Propagation
Please note that it may take up to 24 hours for the DNS changes to propagate globally.
Step 5: Verify the DNS Record in Bluesky
- After the propagation period, return to Bluesky and select Verify DNS Record.
- If the record is correctly added, your domain will be set as your handle.
