How to edit & add DNS records

If you're using an email marketing provider like Mailchimp or Mailerlite, or an externally hosted platform such as Shopify or Teachable, they may ask you to add or edit your DNS records as part of the setup process.

Note: It can take up to 24 hours for a DNS change to take full effect across the whole internet.

Important Note: Making a mistake could mean your website or email is unavailable for 24 hours, so if you aren't confident, please raise a ticket and our support team will adjust your records for you :)

To add or edit your DNS records:

If you've never logged into your Lyrical Host control panel before, you'll need to create a user and password before you can log in. To do this, click here: How do I access my Lyrical Host CP for the first time?

1. Log into your Lyrical Host control panel at https://cp.lyricalhost.com/

2. Scroll down to the "Domain Names" section and click the "Manage DNS" icon.

3. Scroll down to the bottom of the records list and choose the type of DNS record you want to set from the dropdown menu.

4. Enter the details provided to you by the third party platform, email marketing provider or similar and click the "Update DNS" button to save your changes. Please note that if they don't provide a value to enter into the Name field, or they ask you to enter the @ symbol, just leave the field blank. You should also remove your domain name from the DNS record name they provide as this will be added automatically (for example, if the name they want you to enter is s1.domainkey.example.com, just enter s1.domainkey).

If there's already a record with the same name, edit that record instead of adding a new one. Records with the same type are okay to add.

Be especially careful with A records as modifying them incorrectly will cause your site to be inaccessible.

Please contact our support team if you have any questions :)
