Who owns my content and website?

You own the content of your website.

If you are paying a web designer to create and maintain your site for you, then you may wish to review your contract with them to see whether you own the website. Copyright law states that the creator of the design and content on a website automatically becomes the legal owner of said design or content the moment it’s designed or written. This means if your contract doesn't state you are the website owner, by default, it will be the creator's content.
