Do you back up my site for me? How do I back up or restore my WordPress website with Timeline Backups?

We automatically back up your WordPress website (including your database) every 24 hours. These are what we refer to as Timeline Backups; you can restore backups from a snapshot in time from the past 30 days, or take an additional backup to be added to the Timeline Backups queue to restore from. This will take its place in the queue, and as with the automatic backups, has a lifespan of 30 days.

There's no extra charge to revert back to any backup we have of your site from the past 30 days, and you can also download your own backup any time you like from your control panel. All backups we take are stored on separate servers to your website for extra peace of mind.

It's up to you whether you also run your own backup solution or use a plugin; however, we don't recommend storing any additional backups in your web space. For more information on manual and plugin backups, please see

To restore a previous Timeline Backup that we've taken:

1. Log into https://cp.lyricalhost.com with your usual details.
2. Click "Manage" next to your hosting package if needed.
3. Select 'Timeline Backups' under the "Files" section.

4. Click "View Snapshots" next to your choice of "Web" or "database" (you can restore both separately, but we recommend you restore a database backup that is the same age or older than the web files restore you choose).
5. This will revert your website back to an old version so please be sure this is what you want to do before choosing your preferred date and clicking "Restore."

To take additional Timeline Backup backups:

1. Log into https://cp.lyricalhost.com with your usual details.
2. Click "Manage" next to your hosting package if needed.
3. Select 'Timeline Backups' under the "Files" section.
4. Click "Take Snapshot" next to your choice of "Web" or "database."
5. A new box will appear at the bottom of the page; click the "Take Snapshot" button in that box to queue up the new backup.

The amount of time it takes to take or restore a Timeline Backup varies depending on the size of the website and database, the number of files, and how busy the backup servers are at the time. Peak times are typically 10pm GMT/BST to 5am GMT/BST. An average size backup can typically take up to an hour to create, and longer to restore.
