This article explains how to set up two factor authentication (also known as 2FA) for your Lyrical Host webmail. 2FA helps protect your email account from unauthorized access as it means both a text password and a random number code generated by your smartphone are needed to access your emails.
Please note that this is only for people accessing our webmail through their browser, i.e. you go to the Hub, LyricalCP, or https://email.lyricalhost.com to check your email. If you use a mail client such as Apple Mail, Outlook, Gmail or similar, you don’t need to do this.
-
Log in to your webmail at https://email.lyricalhost.com
-
Click “Settings.”
-
Choose “2-Factor Authentication” in the menu on the left.
-
Click the “Create Secret” button (you don’t need to enter anything in any of the text fields).
-
Hit the “Save” button.
-
Click “Show QR Code.”
-
Scan the QR code using an authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator or Authy (you may need to download the app from the Play Store or iTunes).
-
Your phone authenticator app should show a random six digit code displayed on screen. Enter the code into the text field next to the “Check Code” button. Then click “Check Code.” The code changes every 30 seconds, so you may need to re-enter a different code if it changes or is close to changing while you’re doing this.
-
You’ll get a pop up message saying “Code ok.” Close this and check the box next to “Activate” at the top of the mailbox screen.
-
Click the “Save” button at the bottom.
Now when you log in to your mail at https://email.lyricalhost.com, you will be prompted for a 2 Factor Authentication code. Simply open up your Authenticator app on your phone and enter the six digit code displayed to access your email. If you have any problems logging in, please raise a support ticket.
