Before buying a domain name, it's important to know their restrictions. These have been outlined below:
- You can't use a domain name that is already in use (please click here to view our helpful guide if the domain you're looking for is unavailable)
- When registering a domain, you can only use letters, numbers, and hyphens
- Domain names have to be within 3-63 characters (not including the www. or extension e.g. .com)
- You cannot register a domain if the hyphen is at the very beginning or end of the domain name
- Domain names are not case-sensitive. e.g. www.mydomain.com is the same as www.MyDomain.com
- Your domain name cannot be in breach of someone else's trademark
- .UK domain names can only hide your WHOIS contact information if you are a private individual and not a business
- You have to be within an EU country to register a .EU domain name
