You can easily transfer your domain name to Lyrical Host if you are the registered owner. However, it is important to know that there are some aspects that can delay a domain transfer. These are explained below.
Your domain is locked
A non-UK domain such as .com, .org, .net or .biz can be locked in a number of ways, the most common being a domain transfer lock. If a domain transfer is attempted with the lock still enabled it will fail, you will just need to disable the lock with your current registrar before attempting to transfer a domain.
Your domain is in a non-transferable state
If your domain is currently in the redemption period because it expired, is pending delete, or is on hold because of an abuse complaint, then it will not be possible to transfer it. In the case of the first two, redemption period and pending delete, you would need to renew and reactivate the domain before you can transfer it. In the case of abuse hold you will need to contact the existing registrar to resolve this before the domain can be transferred.
Your domain name has incorrect contact data
If the domain contact information in WHOIS is incorrect, in particular, the administrative contact, then the authorisation emails to transfer the domain will not be received and the transfer will fail.
Your .UK domain has been locked
A .UK domain can be locked for reasons such as phishing or other abuse related matters. This will prevent you from being able to transfer the domain and it is best to speak to your current registrar about this.
You purchased the domain within the last sixty days
For some extensions, if your domain is less than 60 days old then you won't be able to transfer the domain to another registrar. This is a policy placed at registry level which affects any domain names governed by registries that impose this rule. Here's a list of domains that enforce this sixty-day waiting period:
- .com
- .net
- .org
- .biz
- .ca (these are restricted for 65 days)
- .be
- .co
- .link
- .me
- .photos
- .photography
- .gallery
- .support
- .cloud
- .ch
- .blog
- .design
- .co.uk
- .uk
- .de
- .fr
- .in
- .nl
- .eu
- .us
- .it
- .io
- .es
If you have transferred the domain within the last sixty days
Some domains that have been transferred in the last 60 days cannot be transferred again to another registrar, i.e. from Registrar A to Registrar B, to Registrar C. 60 days must pass between transfers, this is an ICANN policy to try and prevent domain hijacking. This rule should affect the domains that are prevented from transferring if they've been purchased within 60 days (listed above).
