FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a transfer protocol designed to transfer files from a remote server to local computer, and vice versa. While you can connect to an FTP server using your browser, you will find a lot more functionality if you use a dedicated FTP client (we recommend FileZilla). To use FileZilla, please follow the below steps:
1. Download, install and launch FileZilla
2. Complete the host, username, password and port fields, and then click Quickconnect (this information is found in cp.lyricalhost.com when you manage your hosting package)
3. Click Quickconnect on FileZilla*
*If this connection doesn't work, please ensure that FTP is unlocked. You can unlock this by visiting cp.lyricalhost.com and managing your hosting package.
4. Once you are connected, you will see the FTP directory tree on the right side of the window. The top frame shows the tree structure, while the bottom frame shows the contents of each folder.
5. You can download a file straight from the server onto your PC. To do this, navigate to the file or folder that you want to download on the right side of the window. Navigate to the location that you want to save it on the left side of the window. Click and drag the file from the bottom frame on the right to the bottom frame on the left. Your file or folder will start transferring automatically.
6. You can upload a file from your PC straight onto the server. To do this, navigate to the file or folder that you want to upload on the left side of the window. Navigate to the location that you want to upload it to on the right side of the window. You can then click and drag the file from the left side to the right side to begin uploading.
