This guide explains how to transfer a domain from Names.co.uk. 

(Note: .uk domains include .co.uk, .org.uk)

Please note that for a non .uk domain name (for example a .com, .org, .net etc.), you should make sure you have at least 7 days left before it's due to expire when you start the transfer, and for a .uk domain name 48 hours is recommended.

If you are transferring a non .uk domain:

1. Log in to your Names.co.uk account
2. Select the domain you wish to transfer away
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Domain Transfers”
4. You will need to pay a £10+VAT “Transfer Fee” to Names.co.uk in order for them to provide an authorisation code - Make sure to keep a note of this, as it will be sent to the domain administrator’s email address you’ll need to enter now.
5. Once the payment has been made and you’ve received the authorisation code, visit https://hub.lyricalhost.com/cart.php?a=add&domain=transfer
6. Enter your domain and Authorisation code to begin the transfer process
7. This will charge you the equivalent of one year's renewal of the domain, as we have to renew the domain during transfer. Don't worry - you will just get one extra year on top of the expiry date, you won't lose any time you already have left on the domain.
8. Allow the domain transfer to complete - This can take between 5-7 working days, make sure to regularly monitor your emails as any information or update regarding the transfer will be sent to the administrative contact email address.

If you are transferring a .uk domain:

1. Log in to your Names.co.uk account
2. Select the .uk  domain you wish to transfer away
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Change Nominet tag”
4. In the “New Nominet Tag” enter “STACK”
5. Enter “Not Applicable” or something similar in “Reason for Transferring Away”
6. Names.co.uk will require you to pay a “Transfer Fee” of £10+VAT
7. IMPORTANT: Don’t order your domain transfer with Lyrical Host until Names.co.uk have confirmed they’ve updated your Tag
8. Order the domain transfer at https://hub.lyricalhost.com/cart.php?a=add&domain=transfer  (You don’t need to enter an authorisation code for a .uk transfer)
9. Your domain transfer will occur over the next 24 hours - You’ll be charged the equivalent of one year’s renewal of the domain as we’ll need to do so during transfer, but don’t worry! You’ll get the extra year on top of the expiry date, and you won’t lose any time left on the domain.
